ITE COVID-19 Update

We have received a recommendation from ITE Headquarters to cancel or postpone ITE meetings through the end of April. We are proceeding with that recommendation and will resume activities in May. Payments will be reimbursed for activities that were to occur through the end of April. We apologize for any inconvenience, but trust that these measures are temporary. District, Section, and Chapter Leadership,

 

The COVID-19 situation has been rapidly developing and is resulting in unprecedented actions being taken at the Federal, State and local levels to try and slow the spread of the virus. I have been following the recommendations from the CDC and the actions of other associations closely. Based on the information available today I would recommend cancellation or postponement of all ITE meetings scheduled through the end of April. For those considering the cancellation of a contracted meeting, please reach out to Linda Pierre at [email protected] to review your contract and assess penalties and possible opportunities to work with the hotel.

 

Linda Pierre conducted a session for District, Section, and Chapter meeting planners yesterday and will be preparing a set of FAQs which will be distributed to this group as soon as they are ready. From what I have seen from other associations, hotels are being very aggressive and providing little relief. Insurance policies and contract clauses are not being viewed favorably with regard to their applicability to this situation. This is going to be a challenging time for all of us and we want to do as much as we can to help.

 

Many government entities and private sector organizations are moving toward remote operations and cancelling or severely limiting all travel. ITE staff are actively preparing to move into remote operations, as well. We expect to be able to carry on many of our activities remotely, and will try to operate as close to “business as usual” as possible.

 

We will be evaluating all of the tools available to us to support remote engagement with members, such as our Learning Management System, and will be providing you with any options or suggestions we have on how you can engage with your members until this situation is resolved.

 

We will remain in frequent contact with you as the situation evolves. If there is anything our staff can do to help, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
