1. What is ITE?
ITE stands for the Institute of Transportation Engineers, our goal as an international organization is to provide the global community of transportation professionals with the knowledge, practice, skills, and connections to better serve their communities.
2. What will we do as a Student Member of ITE?
As a student member, you’ll get access to career building opportunities, networking meetings with professionals, and social activities with peers with your similar interests! As a student chapter, our goal is to promote the transportation engineering profession by introducing you to working professionals, providing you with skill-building opportunities, and promoting your interests as a student to guide your development.
3. What are some reasons to join?
The first, and most important benefit of joining is the opportunity to network with students, practitioners, leaders, and decision makers in transportation engineering. Using the ITE network that you build, you open yourself to job opportunities post-graduation, and life-long mentors who can guide you through your career.
The second benefit of joining is the ability to learn. As professionals we are lifelong learners, and ITE provides you with first-hand information on emerging trends in transportation.
As a member, you get access to scholarships, competitions, and first notice on internship opportunities in transportation. As well as ITE’s online library of technical papers and other resources to help you in your career.
Lastly, we have great skill-building events like our Student Leadership Summit, Traffic Bowl, and Data Collection RFP that allow you to practice your skills as a future transportation engineer.
